Regional and special holidays in Australian Capital Territory

ACT public holidays apply across the territory. Canberra Day and Reconciliation Day are distinctive ACT holidays, while the August Bank Holiday is not a general public holiday for everyone.

Which calendar should you use?

Start with the statewide or territory-wide calendar, then check the entries below for any regional or employment-specific differences. Event dates, bank holidays and general public holidays are different categories.

A regional holiday may apply to a defined municipal area or show-day region. Living nearby or attending the event does not, by itself, establish an entitlement. Check the official location notes and your workplace arrangements.

Officially confirmed

Future years

Each year page and individual holiday guide labels confirmed and projected dates. Check the official authority’s latest publication before relying on a future regional date.

Check employment and opening hours

The calendar identifies dates and coverage. It does not determine an individual employee’s pay, leave or requirement to work. Confirm these matters with your employer, relevant agreement or official employment guidance. Shops, attractions and transport services may use their own holiday schedules.
